Rules v1.0

New Unit Set Up:

When starting a new Border Wars campaign or adding a new player, the first thing to do is create your Unit.  Your Unit is the force of battlemechs, battle armor, vehicles and aerospace fighters you will be using in the campaign. Players should use the Lance, Star or Level II force record sheets to keep track of their combat units, pilots, supply, pilot abilities and special unit abilities.

Step 1: Choose your Faction

Choose your faction. Players can select from any existing faction in the late clan war era of 3062.

Inner Sphere House or mercenary units: Lance formations

Clan or Wolf’s Dragoons: Star Formations

Comstar or Word of Blake: Level formations

2: Select Force: 300 points

Once your faction is selected now its time to pick fighting units. Players may pick variants created prior to 3062. Players are encouraged to try to stick to cannon style units and that 25% or less of the units selected be of rare or out of faction units.

Example: a mercenary unit should never have more than 1 in 4 clan mechs in their unit.

Please note that when choosing combat units that players should use the skill 4 points value when being added to the roster.  Pilot rosters come in the next step and do not add value to the initial combat unit selection.

3: Choose starting Experience Level: Green, Regular,  or Veteran

Now that you have your faction and warmachines, you need pilots and crew for them. Pilot is used as a generic term and represents mech and aerospace pilots, a battle armor point or vehicle crew. Players may choose from three unit experience levels. Green, Regular or Veteran.  Each choice has 15 starting pilots and an initial allocation of Supply Points. To off set the difficulty of using lower skill pilots in the campaign players are compensated with a higher starting supply point value.

Regular: Starting Supply Points 1500
